E M P T Y SPACES

Nobody says life gives you all that you desire. Nor do I. But all I need to do now is to come give me myself the things that I had them all once. Yes, I realize I do need to fill up some empty spaces around me, the holes of which are gaping so wide that if left the way they are, they will soon grow big enough to swallow up my world.

To begin with let's start with my Ipod which hasn't been fed with any songs for ages. I like my Ipod, Ipod makes me happy! Funny it is to see that a cute little black thing with a bitten apple on it can keep sanity when things are not so sane.
I see my shoes, and I see them everyday and only desire to slip my feet in. Yea buddy, I ll pick you up soon. Only this time around, I am afraid you will have to put up with a few extra pounds. I think they will be fine. They have always been fine! Never once give out a squeal no matter how much ever burdened. My work out does not seem to keep me company anymore. I think I will be fine too after I am back on track.
Am I also forgetting my daily doze of soaked almonds, dry grapes, dates and nuts? My body needs them. Atleast I think it does.
I miss the smell of my books. Lots of reading to catch up with. My pen has gone dry. Lots of wrtiting to catch up with too. The only thing that is catching up with me or wait... I think rather going ahead of me is time. How does one not find it difficult to catch up with time??
And movies.. Holy Molly! Life is incomplete without movies. The only growth in my life currently is the length of the list of movies I am yet to watch. Now do NOT call me a stupido if I say that I conveniently missed watchin the "Inception" too. Alright, yes I am stupid. But hopeful too. Hopeful to watch it sooner or later.. and all the other movies too.
And one thing that I believe in that's gonna make me feel good of all the things above, "It's better late than never".

A new profile picture

I got my profile picture changed after a loooong time.!

Yea! That's me. During an after college hang out at the "Greenvalley" some 7-8 kns away from the city. An exotic, lush green open space, with a couple of posh banglows strewn over the place. This spot holds good to throw a lawn party or something. The famour "Maradhumallai" mountains (hope I spelt it right) aren't too far from here.

What are we talking about?

My thoughts with this blog keep changing. Change is persistent and change keeps me going. Going back, I ve deleted some of my posts for some bigger reasons to be worked upon later. Any educated guesses? Besides the point. Did quite a bit of management. The only things that don't really change are those that I want to change. Like it's been a while since I blogged( as evident as it is), ran a mile to burn some calories or went swimming for that matter, cracked open a new book to read, hit the theatres to catch a movie, so on and so forth. And this is what I ve been thinking of lately and been wanting to change in that perspect. Mum needs no couch potato at home and she already thinks she has got one, has she? Study is yet another point on the list. Desk looks unused. Talking about it, gotta long way to go for it tonight and then hoping to visit the Doc tomorrow morning. It's morning and mornings are always hasty. And this way can't believe it's march already. Time sure flies and everything shall pass for good. My friend on her facebook status says she wants to go back in time. I say I want to move forward in time. As strange as it my sound. Got yelled "shut up" from her. lol.

"Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell - Review

Blink - The power of thinking without thinking as the name itself indicates, explores the hidden powers of out capability to make the right decisions and judgments at the spur of the moment without ones realization to it.

He illustrates as to how this whole power of snap judgments actually work. Not only that, considering the fact that the ability of our unconscious to find patterns in situations and behavior based on very narrow pieces of incidents( thin slicing as Malcolm calls it) is automated, he also enlightens us on how there can be a way to master over this unconscious act. The book motivates us to go by our gut feeling but also it is highlighted that there can be dangers in doing so as our capacity to make snap judgments may not be always perfect. This is due to various factors that adds to the environment. I have always loved all Malcolm Gladwell's concepts. His ideas seem downright warranted and can be implemented pragmatically. He has supported his thesis with a number of researches as always but this time around, I personally felt that his study ranged on varied topics that were so numerous that the book lost its centre of gravity. The essence is hay wired eventually and one would end up feeling as having read only researches after researches. The point gets so extra highlighted that newness of his idea is ruined! The later part of the book where the author talks about mind reading also gets a little too elaborate. That is that, but it also gets a lot more technical when he speaks about the combination of face muscles to define certain moods which would have otherwise been sufficient to the readers had he not spoken about it the way he did to get the idea of what he was trying to convey. In the end yes, it gets a little monotonous to be precise. Nonetheless his ideas are fresh and that’s very much appreciative.

"The Winner Stands Alone" by Paulo Coelho - Review

Yet another philosophy by Paulo Coelho. Gives an insight into the reality behind all the Glitz and Glamour which provokes us to think about the materialistic world we live in. At few points, it mocks at us as regards to our hunger for money and power encapsulating us into slavery. However, as regards to Igor, his character is too hard to understand. On one side he is a wise man knowing what is valuable and on the other hand acts insensible. Is that what the author is trying to convey that even the wisest is deviated from the right? That's left on the readers to decide. Also the whole idea of him escaping in the end in his private jet seemed too abrupt without facing any consequences to his brutality done. All in all, perhaps a good read and keeps the reader intrigued throughout.

This is it.

This has been haunting my head for quite sometime lately. There's something very illuminting that I had come across and it's worth preserving it in our minds. I wanna paraphrase it from the best of my memory resources.

" Your hardwork and struggle would seem like a prison and burden your shoulders if you do not have a MEANING to it. Once it has, you would want to do more it. "
